Three Items For Proper Pet Maintenance

Proper maintenance of a pet does not involve feeding table scraps and providing water. It involves a whole host of other items for the exercise and security of the pet. And this is most important when your pet is a dog.

In the every day wear and tear and use of pet items, there is a need for proper storage that is both safe and clean for the dog's things. Here are three items which require proper storage.

1) Food items

It is the cardinal rule that in maintaining a dog the mind set of the owner should be that there is like a five year old waiting for care and attention at all times. So to keep the dog healthy, the pet must have its own plate and water bowl. The bowl must be clearly identifiable and big enough according to the size of the pet. There must be an identified area for the pet to eat.

Now as for the food items, human food is a definite no-no for a dog. Specially formulated dog food is available in the market, depending upon the age and breed of the pet. Now as the dog learns where the food is, proper storage is needed to keep the dog from raiding the pantry so to speak. Keeping the bowl and food under lock and key is proper storage to keep the pet in proper behavior.

2) Toys and leash

In order to keep the dog alert, chew toys are a must. But play time must be regulated to instill discipline on the pet. So, toys must be kept away from reach and sight of the dog. Usually, keeping the items in overhead cabinets would be proper storage. As for the leash, it must be hanging in plain sight so that it can easily be put on the dog when the need arises. Also, keeping the leash in plain sight would instill in the pet the need to be in its best behavior always.

3) Bed and litter box

Proper storage for the bed and litter box does not mean one has to keep the dog's things away. The bed and the litter box needs to be lined with newspaper to absorb the waste. The bed must be cleaned everyday.

As for the litter box, it must be cleaned twice a day so that germs do not accumulate and proliferate in the box. Also, keeping the bed and the box in defined areas allows the pet to learn when to sleep and when to go and move their waste. Just some simple ways to teach a pet the proper thing to do.

Proper maintenance of pet items is important in the care of a pet dog. By keeping the food and bowl under lock and key, keeping toys in cabinets and the leash in plain sight and cleaning the bed and litter box everyday, it would keep your pet in proper behavior and healthy at all times. These are simple things to do for the proper love and care of a pet.
